AMI-1’ER.ST. Oct. 3-The Maritime
Province Branch of the Amateur
Athletic Union of Canada, will.enter
fully into the spirit of sport devel-
opment in 1930. According to Sher-
if! Charles D. Shipley. secretary of
the Maritime organization, the
Branch will promote the Maritime
'Pr-ack and Field Championships for
1930, at either Halifax. Moncton or
Truro. Competent officials' will be
appointed to take charge of the
events-publicity will be handled by
a duly selected advertising committee
-and in fact it will be the intention
of the M.P.B.A.A.U.C. to finance the
entire venture-the initial step into
actual sport promotion.
-Herctofore, certain clubs have ap-
plied for the championships, but the
method has not always been satis-
factory-neither to the branch no:
to the club. The promotion of the
Maritime Track Championships, will
be only an experiment, according to
Sheriff Shipley, but he expressed the
opinion. that the interest of the ath-
letes, officials, and sport writers,
would ‘bs carried to greater heights,
under the methods of the new sugges-
tion.

team invade Upper Canada., when
