and was popular wherever known. It
will be remembered that the late Dr
Bradley suffered a heavy loss by fire
about a year ago when everything he
owned, including his clothing and

SEVERAL NEW FIELDS
ST. JOHN, March 5-The Presby-
terian home mission comlinittee may
this year have some difficulty in
finding men to fill all their fields.
Rev, Gordon Dickie said last even-
ing that- several new fields had been
opened up by the Grand Trunk Paci-
fic in the northern part of the Pro-
vince. The Chipman field has also
enlarged, owing to the same cause.
Until after the meeting of the home
mission committee, ’-however, Mr.
Dickie was unable to say just what
arrangements could be made.
INSURANCE BILL
BEFORE SENATE.
OTTAWA, March 5-_-The banking
committee of the Senate tonight
'made a final review of the insurance
bill and decided to report it to the
Senate on Tuesday next.
The measure has received the most
careful consideration by the commit-
tee. All interests or individuals who
appeared were given an attentive
were carefully weighed by the Wm’
mittee which frequently had three
sittings a day on the bill. WOFKIHE
from 10 o'c1ock in the morning until
110 o'clock at night.
' While a good many amendments
were ma-de the bill comes from the
committee practically untouched as
far as the life insurance provisions
are concerned. The contention of the
companies in respect to policy share-
holders, control of expenses and of
investment. did not result in radical
changes to the bill."
The chief change. is in the five
clauses. The committee decided that
it would not be well to pass an act
to prevent an insurer going out of
the country and ellleeting a risk
with an unlicensed companyl The
fifteen per cent. provision was there-
fore eliminated.
It is expected that the bill will be
given a third reading and sent to
the House of Commons next week.
