Dear Editor, After reading a letter last week that appeared in the X- Press I feel I must respond. The letter was written by one of the Student Unions Vice presidents and it was about CIMNs Alter Ego Guide. What arrogance! I could not believe the stuff I was reading from the Student Union. Where does the SU get off deciding what I should and should not read? They say some of tie Alter Egos were being distrib- uted around town and that children could read them, and therefor the ‘‘offensive’’ section must be cen- sored. What about the guides that were to be distrib- uted around campus, why were they censored? Does the Student Union in all its wisdom not realize that the songs in question are available at record stores and that children can see them there. Or did the SU not think of this? I think this event is a prime example of how abused Student Union powers are. Instead of backing the students of the university( who fund the SU) they decided to save their own butts and the Universitys. We as students elect these Student Union members to work for us, not to baby us. I think the VPs have forgotten who really holds the power in a democratic organization like the Student Union( If they are still democratic), the students. As far as I can see, most of the student fees we pay each year to the Student Union goes to building the executives egos, not to building a good student or- ganization. Unless the executive formally apologizes to the stu- dents of this university for their mistake, I feel that they should resign their positions and give them to people who will work for the students, instead of against them!! Angrily, 1 mad student. Dear editor; Can anyone out there answer a question for me? Why is the library not open in the evenings on Friday or — Saturdays. I know not everyone is intent on studying on the weekend but I think the University should try to encourage the students who arebykeepingthe _ facilities open for the students. Maybe only saturday night would be best, but atleast give us one evening. Some people dostudy onthe © weekends, I think? No placeto go. .
