She had been in failing health for some time, but was confined to her bed for I her passing. er Carrie Arabella Muttart, the daughter of the late Charles and Eliza P. Hood, Muttart, and was born in Augustine Cove on Jan- uary 28, 1871. While in her teens, the family moved to Lower Bede- que. predeceased her in 1907, also an Coldwell, passed twenty years ago. In 1915, she was married to Artemas Schurman, Central Be"- deque. After living on the farm there for three years, they re- tired from farm life and took up residence in the village of Cen- treville Bedeque. During her lifetime, Mrs. Schur- man, was actively interested in extending’ the work of the Mas- ter’s kingdom. For many years she was a faithful member of the Bedeque’ United Church and until-prevented by ill health, she was a regular attendant at church Sunday school, and W.M.S. Un- assuming in manner, she was ev- er ready to lend a helping hand in time of sickness or to any one who needed her assistance. She leaves to mourn, a broth- er, Major Herbert Muttart, To- ronto, who visited with her for the past summer. Her husband predeceased her a number of years ago, also her only sister, Mrs. Albert Weeks in 1950. The funeral service which was held from Bedeque United Church on Dec. 19th at 2 p.i'n. was large- ly attended by relatives and friends. Rev. G. A. Cowper-Smith assisted by Dr. C. A. Britton, ‘conducted the s e r v i c e. The hymns sung were ‘ The Lord Is My Shepherd" and “Unto the Hills”. A solo “Beyond the Sun- set” was lovingly rendered by Mrs. Hedley Lowther, Carleton. The pallbearers were: T. J. In- man, H o w a r d Schurman, Lea Toombs, Ernest Taylor, Walter Bowness, Orville Johnson. Interment in United Baptist Ce- metery.
