This is the time not only to lay in n supply of glycerine and witch nazel- one of the very best of all solteners ‘for the hands- but to apply it ii-;;- ularly. Each time the hands have ;been in hot dishwater or in the rin- sing waters of vegetables or potato- es, they should be carefully washed and wiped, the cuticle ge-n‘.‘y 1- :r-hed back from the nails, and glyoerine and witch hazel-about two p.-irts of witch hazel to one part of glycerinc- well rubbed into the skin of the hands while the fingers are gently mnssaged up and down. It sounds rather a bother to be told this but in reality it is the simplest and eas- iest thing to do. Then at night be- fore going to bed wash the hands thoroughly in 'warm £ater with n teaspoon of oatmeal and a pinch of orris root, use the nail brush going over the whole hand' carefully and dry with a soft towel. When the hands are thoroughly dried take a good massage cream-not an ordin- ary cold cream-and massage the hands as gently as you would the face, going slowly over each finger and rubbing the cream into the cut- icle. Rub until all the cream is quite absorbed. Any cream with cucumber in it is excellent for the hands as it has a tendency to whiten the skin. It is never well to wear gloves to sleep in for the hands do,not ncedto be kept Uarm.
