The plans and specifications, as submitted by Architect J. S. Roy, call mi- a. building 160 rt. x zoo rt. with an ice surface of BB ft x 160 it. and a seating capacity of approximately 5,000 with standing room for an addi- tional 1,500 persons. The building as outlined by the architect, is to be of solid brick with a concrete fourid ation over steil frame and will cost approximately $66,260. The artificial ice plant to be in- stalled will cost an additional $32,200, bringing the building within the $100,000 for which legislation was secured for the building of the struc- ture. In the motion moved by Alderman Brown and passed unanimously the tenders shall be accompanied by a. cheque for l0 per cent of the total tender and shall read as follows: (a) A solid brick building; (b) concrete block with brick front: (c) concrete seat-s throughout; (d) wooden seats throughout. The motion was madeto read in this mariner due to the fact that the figures submitted by the ‘bi-amulet called for wooden seats and some of the menber of the Council were o4 the opinion that the building should be entirely fire-proof and it was poss- ible that this might be done by mak- ing the advertisement for tenders read as above. When the rain started the teams repaired to the beach and at 6- oclock all trooped to the old Mc- Millan Hotel where the well filled baskets provided by the ladies were opened out and full justice done to a palatable lunch. Dancing was then enjoyed with Miss Bernadette Gaudet presiding at the piano. The party returned to the city about 8 o'clock and after a drive about the city, with tooting of horns. called at the store of Moore at Mc- Leod where ice cream was served. A hearty vote of thanks was here moved by Mr. Arthur Heart: in a neat speech, and seconded by Mr. George McQuaid, thanking the direc- tors for their kindness in providing such a pleasant outing. This was replied to by Mr. J. P. Gordon and Mr. S. A. McLeod in their usual haPDy manner. The enjoyable afternoon was con- cluded by bouncing Messrs. J. P. Gordon and S. A. Mclnod. i -_u-|___.
