Murphy and little son: lcit rccently for Halifax to take up their residence there Mr. Murphy enlisted at the be- ginning of the war and is serv- ing in the Navy. Private Bruce Coulson of the Prince Edward Island Highland- ers is spending a pleasant visit in Sea View with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. JOseph Coulson. The Sea View W. I. hcld their December meeting at the home of Mrs. John W. Murphy. There was a good attendance of Members and several visitors who the mem- bers ivcie pleased to entertain. The n-ew president Mrs_ Earle MacKay ca-pably presided and the nlwtln; opened in the usual way with the Institute Ode and Creed, The new Secretary Marlon Picker- ing called the roll and gave the minutes of the last meeting which rzrtve rise to several items of busi- ness which were latcr discussed. Tho new secretary Marion Picker- lnxz reported sending a. parcel of socks to Charlottetown also that more yarn had been procured for socks, sweaters and scarves those were almost completed and ready to be sent. The buying commit- tee also stated that material had been procured for pnuemonia. Jae- kets, etc, and Mrs. John Picker- ing kindly invited the members to her hOme to start sowing. A let- ter of appreciation was read from s sick member who had been re- membeved 1n illness. It was then decided to remember Mrs. J. E. Murphy who had been a faithful member for several years with s little gift. as she is leaving the community. Questionnaire for the meeting was discussed and filled out by the oonvenor. The pro- gram committee then entertained with an interesting reading by Mrs. James E. Murphy also a berry contest which created much amuse- ment. Mrs. James Murphy receiv- ed the prize in this contest. The singing oi’ the King brought the meeting to a close after which lunch Was served by tho hostess assisted by Mrs. Duncan Budlbury and MLss Lillian Maclleod.
