W6 Ire sure. to receive all time thht is past. Until tomorrow —_ — — — Diary -——-——_.Good-nigl1t..... Continued from pge lo Tliat Body Di Yours cancer of the stomach in this series was 61.6 yearn. The physicians call attention to the fact that of the 411 cases. 88.8 per cent occurred after 50 years or 63¢. , What about the relation of cati- cor to noncnncer conditions? The noncancer cases were about 50 per cent of the cancer cases. What about the symptoms of cancer in this group of 411 cases? These cases were analyzed at the nrst time the patients attended the Clinic. The oommonest symptoms first noted by the patient were pain in the stomach. lack of appetite, and weight. lcxxx. I believe that most physicians. inciudpig this Saskatchewan group. wi.l agree‘ that these three symptoms occur. most often in cancer of the stom—i och and begin with slight pain in the stomach, loss of appetite and consequent loss of wqght. The pain‘ was more definite than a vague; sense of all discomfort so often re-t ported by other stomach specialists and amounted to a real soreness or ache. not just a vague distress. I The surprising point. about these symptoms was their mildneas. Thus a long-standing history oi’ ulcer or the stomach was present in only I per cent of the cases. and bleeding was present in only '1 casu before‘ the mat examination. ‘ Another point observed by these research workers was that cancer‘ patients in this series did not ob-‘ ject to eating meat. Other research physicians have reported cancer user. who would not eat. meat. As with other research physicians. v this group found that delay in re- rting to their physician was me lggest factor in allowing cancer of the stomach to make such great headway. nor{fi{iEXr{L}s?3§§6root (Easter Ennis Report) L I ‘ Grade IX l.
