past ten days. lt. is forty years
since he lcit the island and it is
twenty-seven years since he las-t
visited here. Mr. .MacDonald sees
many changes ln the Province and
in spite of the inclement, weather
of the past ‘few days thinks there
is no place to compare with the
island. Mr. MacDonald ls engag-
ed in the coal and oil business and
has a large pipe line for export,
known as the Blue Tank Line Co.
Mr. MacDonald is also a member ol'
it syndicate epgaged in building a
new city 'between San Pedro and
Redondo, Cal. lt has an area of
16,000 acres, and a water frontage
of 18 miles. The vast dum of $35,-
000,000 is being spent on the en-
terprise, the Commonwealth Trust
Co., oi which Mr. -Frank Vander-
lip is president, being behind Mr.
MzioDoi\itld's syndicate. At pre-
sept the lots have all hcen survey-
ed and the streets planned. Town
