While there he made extensive improve-
ments to McLean Bros' large store,_
which he thoroughly painted and
whitened and tinted. The house of
the station master than came in for
Mr. Howlett’s brush and was papered
throughout. Mr. Deacon’s residence Was
painted and grained and the temperance
hall, where Triumph Division meets, was
whitened, tinted and painted.

Mr. Hensley, father of the late Captain
Hensley, received to-day a copy of the
London Telegraph containinga letter from
Bennett Burleigh, the pape.’s correspond- .
ent in South Africa. Referring to the en- ‘i
gagrnent in which the late Captain Hensley `
lost his life, Mr. 1 Burleigh writes:-“The

a number of casualties occurred amongst

places among the silentones, but yet not
to utter silence, for their lives remain elo-

new made graves, where there were no
firing parties,but only wet weary eyes for V
