Tue steamer Carrel! cleared for Boston yesterday evening, with a cargo consisting of 1,937 bags and 1,198 bbls. potatoes, 826 cases and 11 barrels of eggs, and 368 cases of lob- sters. The total value of the cargo is,$9,050— by no means a small spring shipment. Mr. Freperick Barry, representing the frm ef Stene & Wellington, of Toronto, called at our office to-day and showed us some fine specimens of roses and all kinds of ornamental flowers, also the white Park- ington grape, the only out-door grape grown on the Islaud. Persons desirous of having a nice lot of flowers, would do well to give Mr. Barry their order when he calls upon them. Can our City Fathers do anything to allay the clouds «f dust which are to-day blinding and choking our citizens, filling their stores and destroying their goods? The passage through Queen Street this afternoon was some- thing horrible. Thick dust clouds were float- ing in every direction, and in many instances persons had to seek refuge from them in stores. A small effort on the part of the City Council would remedy this evil. We hope that body will consider the matter at their 6 itting to-night. On Sunday last, four men, named Joseph Stephenson, Isaac Field, George Deshaw and Teraphin Martin, left Valleyfield, Que., in a sailboat, intending to sail a few hours on the lake. As they did not return on Sunday Sunday evening, it was supposed that, finding the wind too strong, they had put into port until it would subside. On Tuesday morning a party was started in search of them, and found the boat washed ashore bottom up, about three miles above the village, and the body of the man Fielding a little distance from is. It is supposed that all four have been ost. Tur wife of Mr. Joseph D. Seaman, car- riage builder, died very suddenly at her resi- dence last night. Mrs. Seaman _ retired in her usual good health. To- wards one o'clock she awoke and re- marked. that she was very warm. Immediately afterwards she felt a choking sensation in the throat, and about five minutes later fell bick on her pillow and expired. Mrs. Seaman was a young woman—married but a short time. She was daughter of Mr. Charles Heartz, and was universally respected and esteemed. We tender Mr. Seaman and the parents of the deceased our heartfelt sym- pathy.
