up to las-t night discharging the big
freight taken from here on Wednesday

Stephen, of Halifax, has received of-
ficlal`notiticatlon that her husband
has been accidently wound`ed'. No de-
tails are givven. Major Stephen ls a
son of Alexander Stephen, or this
city. He went overseas with the 40th
battalion, afterwards being _transfer-
red to a Montreal battallon,with whom
he went to the front. Major- Stephen
was an officer' in the 66th P. P. L.
F., before enlisting for ove°rseas.--

SUDDEN DEATH IN PlCTOU.- A
good friend of_Charlotteto_wn' steam-
boat man died very suddenly in Plc-
tou Wednesday afternoon in tho person
Davies & Noonan brokers. who for
many years represented the Char-
Plctou. Mr. Noonan was sitting in a
chair in his ,oflicg talking to Captain
Murchison of the car ferry steamer
when he suddenly collapsed, death be-
ing.ins~tantaneous'. Heart disease is
supposed to have' been the cause. De-
ceased was about sixty years of ago, a
very fine gentleman, whose sudden
ending will cause deep regret among
his host of friends in Nova Scotia and
P. E. Island, as well as elsewhere.
WEDDING BEILLS.-A pretty
wedding took place at . the
residence of the brlde's parents; Mr.
and Mrs. F. ._'I‘urner, 255 Seventeeth
St., east, when' their eldest daughter,
Ethel Matilda, was united in marriage
to Mr. Leslie McLeod. The wedding
ceremony tool: place in the drawing
room under a crescent of palms and
was performed by the Rev. A. E. Mit-
chell, psstor of the Mount Pleasant
Pres-byterlan church. The bride was
atitlred in ivory satin with lace trlm~
mings. with a veil and orange trige-
soms, and carried a bouquet of white
roses and maiden hair fe'rn. The
grooni’s gift to her was a gold pond-
ant, studded with diamonds and pearls.
After the- ceremony the bridal party
and a company of guests were' enter-
tained at supper. The bride and
groom were the recipients of it great
number of beautiful gifts, many of
them being from friends in Prince
Edward Island, of ‘which province
both are natives, the groom having
been the youngest son of the' late Cap-
tain Alexander McLeod. The couple
will make their home in Kltsilano.-
