     Mr. R.H. Kendall, District Superintendent of Parks Canada, P.E.I., 
     
     is pleased to announce the presentation of a Centennial Heritage Award 
     
     to the Island Nature Trust. This award is made during the 
     
     Parks Canada Centennial Year to recognize individuals or f' 
     
     groups who have made outstanding contributions in preser— 
     
     ving the heritage of Canadians. 
     
    

    
     In presenting this award to the Island Nature Trust, 
     
     Parks Canada recognizes this non-profit organization 
     
     which is devoted to the protection and management of nat- 
     
     ural areas in Prince Edward Island. 
     
    

    
     The Island Nature Trust has made great strides in 
     
     educating the general public as to the requirements for conservation 
     
     and have demonstrated through concrete action their commitment in this 
     
     field. 
     
    

    
     The individual projects carried out to date are too numerous to 
     
     list but Parks Canada feels that their support of the Piping Plover 
     
     Program and the acquisition through long-term lease with the Province 
     
     of PEI of the important properties at Deroche Pond are outstanding 
     
     examples. Their protection of this area while continuing the tradition— 
     
     al public use compliments very well the stated objectives of Parks 
     
     Canada. In presenting this award, Parks Canada recognizes the support 
     
     given their mandate to protect for all time those places which are 
     
     significant examples of Canada's natural and cultural heritage and 
     
     also to encourage public understanding, appreciation and enjoyment of 
     
     this heritage in ways which leave it unimpaired for future generations.

     ShoWers'of'membership renewals, that is. It turned out to be a 
     
     mere DRIZZLE. Nevertheless, thank you, last year's members, who noé 
     
     ticed our appeal and responded. Maybe we'll get a shower yet, when 
     
     more members read this notice. We hope so - we are only halfway there 
     
     yet and the year is fleeting. A good many hands are extended for do-
