There were about 600 birds entered, an in- crease of over a hundred over last year, and the largest entry list in the history of the Association. THURSDAY ISLANDER DEAR-The death occurred last month at Alnisk, Al-ta., of John Moore in his 80th year. Deceased bud been ailing but his death was very sudden, the re- sult of a second paralytic stroke. "l‘he late Mr. Moore formerly re- sided at Crapaud in this Province and went West about seventeen years ago where he followed the oc- cupation of farming up till the time of his death. There was a large attendance a1. the annual meeting of the P. E. l. Egg and Poultry Association which opened yesterday afternoon in the Technical School, The president, Mr. J. R. Mulan, was in the chair. The directors’ report, published be- low, showed that over 780,000 doz- ens of eggs were handled by the Association during 1923. This was a smaller number than the prev- ious year, but the luttcr part of 1923 was busy and I924 promises to be a banner year for business. The financial statement and audit- or's report, also published in full below, were also read, after which there was an address by the Com- missioner of Agriculture nnd nu lu- teresting discussion on various matters connected with the As- soclution. Hon. J. H. Myers, Commissioner of Agriculture, expressedhis pleas- ure at the exceptionally large at- tendance. The annual meeting of the Sheep Growers’ Association was held yes- terday morning a-t the Agricultural School, the ‘President Mr. C. B. Clay in the chair. The. Secretary, Mr. Wilfrid Boul- ‘ter, read a report dealing with the wool marinated through the As- sociation in 1923. This report was well discuss- ed and there was also a.long dis- cussion on the co-operatlve market- ing of lambs. The organization of cooperative shipping associations, in line with the policy of the Live Stock Branch, was endorsed. the opinion being that this policy should be made general. A resolution was passed that the directors ask the Provincial Gov- ernment to assist if possible in the importation of exceptionally good type rams. An assessment of 25 cents was made, to be deducted from the price of wool as a membership fee. Ottawa. ‘i At the home of her daughter, Mrs. Irving Parsons, Mill Vale on Feb. 19th after a short illness of eight days with pneumonia there passed away to her eternal rest Mrs. Daniel Hill, aged 65 years. The deceased had been in good health up to the time of her illness but despite all that medical skill and loving hands could do and al- though her fanllly held out every hope for her recovery death claim- cli her for its own. llcr husband predeceased her three years nnd nine months ago. She will be much missed by her many friends, as she was always really to give n helping hand in the hour of sickness and trouble. She loaves to mourn the loss of a kind and loving mother, five chil- dren, namely, Mrs. Henry Bernard of Hunter River; Mrs. Irving Parsons, of Mill Vale; Mrs. Alfred Gendrew of Springfield, Mass; Herman. of Mayfield and Spurgeon on the homestead, also a grandson, Gordon Hill of Fredericton, to whom she has been a mother since the deatll of his father Ira Hill which occurred ten years ago. She also leaves sixteen more grand children‘ to mourn the loss of a loving grandmother, also two brothers and sisters, namely Mrs. Alex. MucPherson, Chathnm, N. B; Henry and Daniel MacDowell of Ayer, Mass. The funeral service was held on Thursday, Feb. 21st at 2 p. m. by the Rev. A. P. Hodges and Rev: 0. H. Peters. A very large con- course of friends and neighbors gathered to pay their last tribute of respect to one whose memory will long be cherished by her family and many friends.
