The Trudeau wage controls ~administered through the "anti— inflation Board" with Jean-Luc Pepin as chairman, is sizing up to guarantee that those who most need a wage increase are going to have to tighten theirl belts a lot more - at’a time when corporate profits are at ' an all-time high! The wealthy, who are repr- esented by government in Can— ada, fear the rising labor fight-back and are beginning to show their reactionary fangs. The military—indus- trial complex of the capit— alist world are making every effort to step—up the arms race, and‘every capitalist "paper in North Americal is reflecting the return of cold war ideology form McCarthyism to bomb shelters. Again they're trying to quell the 4. working class which is seeing_ with increasing clarity, the necessity to put big business under public control. The working class of this country is not fooled one bit by the millionaire Trudeau when he tells us A workers, unemp1-' oyed, farmers, fishermen, and students - that we must re- ,strain, learn to 8° without. They are angered, and with every ritht, where the rich (who acquired their wealth through the exploitation of our labor) tell them to seek less. The rich don't! In— deed they don't nor do they intend to. This is merely a reactionary tactic to pr— otest and increase'profits— 'to do this they must harness the labor movement in Canada. But Canadian workers are no longer so easily duped, as / the number of strikes indi— cates. ~ . . The secondary school tea- chers in Toronto are still on '.strike; 8.800 teachers affe- cting 140,000 students. Na- . turally, of course, the‘me- die is attempting to make the teachers look like super greedy Sleuths and to prev- ?ent the public from suppor- ting them. As always the strike is blamed on the st- rikers, when the fact of the matter is that workers are _ forced to strike to protect their standard of living from rising inflation. The media. never sees -’indeed, is paid.not to see - that management, in its lust for profits, is the sole cause of any strike. Inflation is not caused by the worker. The worker is the creator of wealth: because, through his '1abor power, he creates com— modities which posSess both a use-value and an exchange value. In return for this he is.given a wage which is re: gulated so he can obtain only that which he requires to co— tinue working for his explo- iter - the surplus value he 1 also creates is appropriated by his exploiter 4 profit! This is unearned wealth on the part of the exploiter, YOU?INTERESTED? ‘pmADAS .— L 1111 I”! : pa ‘ a .zp INTERESTED . . . IN WHAT YOU SEE? So are we. But for different reasons! Corporations may project a profit of $50,000,000.00 ‘ for 1976. Yet their actual " profit may be $20,000,000.00 They then claim they suffer; ed a.$30,000,000.00 loss. In their minds this justi—. fies a reduction in the ' \workers income so as to compensate for this "loss"!' In their minds (and in the Trudeau government) this justifies wage controls.
