THE regular meeting of the Charlot-
tetown Military Institute took place
last night, and was Well attended. A
very interesting discussion took placc
on two important military _ subjects.
The next meeting will be held in the
Artillery Orderly Rooms, Thursday
evening, April 20th when a suitable
paper will be read by one of the
otlicers. All interested will be wel-

forts of St. James’ church congregation
in making the tea and sale given in the
hall yesterday evening one of the best
financially and otherwise, held for a
long time; The attendance was large
and an enjoyable and sociable hour was
spent. The sales from the ladies’
table amounted to about $110; ' tel
table, $97; refreshment table, $43.60;
willing workers, $30 : candy table, $30;
ice cream table, $27, making a grand
total of $357.60. -' -

Basement of the First Methodist Church
last evening was one of the most suc-
cessful enteitainments ot the sea-
son The progaam was rendered as
follows-_Selection by orchestra; ad-
dress, Rev. Mr. Campbell; vocal solo,
Mr. Alex. Buchanan; recitation, Mr.
1V. Hatfield; vocal solo. Mr. L. N.
Cook; trombone solo, Mr. L. Dawson;
instrumental trio, Messrs. Chappelle,
Walsh and Chappelle ;chorus and march
by young men in costume. Refresh-
ments were then served by the Apron
Brigade in the Boys’ best style, after
partakiiig cf which the company made
a general assault on the candy tables
which were soon cleared. The gross
proceeds amounted to about $45. Half
the net proceeds will go to the opera_
ting room of the P. E. Island Hospital
and the balance to the birst Methodist
Sunday School.
