The ends of the index and mid- dle fingers of his left hand were cut of! almost to the first joint. when his hand became caught be- tween tha belt and pulley of a washing machine that had been converted from gas to electric. His mother, who was employed each -week day at Smallman's Ltd. was washing clothes for Brian and her two other children, when the little fellow, unknowing to her, came quickly from another room. and placed his fingers on the revolving belt which carried it into the sharp edged pulley. caus- ing the flngers to be cut off im- medistely. His mother. alone in the home with the child at the time, sum- moned help and rushed the little led to the Prince County Hospital for medical attention.
