May ‘ZR-The bill providing for the proposed new South African flag will be with- drawn at the present session of the House of Assembly. ‘but it will be reintroduced next year, accord- ing to announcement made today 1by Hon. Dr. D. F. Malan, Minister of the Interior. The design of the new South Africnp flag excludes the Union ,.lack. it comprises a vertical red strip and horizontal stripes of green, yellow and blue. There is strong opposition to the pew flag because it excludes the‘ Union Jack and this opposition has been growing stronger and. stronger since the ‘Hertzog govorn- ment accepted the design.
