Canada and U, l_ A, H St. Dunstan’s College Scene of Celebration On Occasion Of 75th Anniversary.-—Rev. J. A. Murphy Awarded Degree Of Doctor Of Theology By Laval University-Many Fine Addresses Heard. On the- beautiful campus of St. Dunstans Univprsity and on the‘ same spot where, seventy-five yearsl ago, a little college opened her doors to a student body of three, hundreds of graduates yesterday celebrated the birth of their Alma Mater. In the C0l’i\'i\’l8l atmosphere of class reunions and college yells, the occasion is in-J deed a memorable one with graduates attending the festivities from all over the North American continent. On the University grounds yesterday morning at 10 o'clock, Pontifical High Mass was celebrated by His Lordship Bishop Kelley, of Oklahoma. In the sanctuary were seated His lordship Bishop Boyle, of Pittsburgh, Bishop Morrison of Antigonish, Rt. Rev. J. C. McGuigan, Edmonton and 5i: George Hennesey and Sir Charles Dalton in robes of papal knights. 'I'he following clergy officiated: Ceiebrant, His Lordship Bishop Kei- lev: High Priest, Right Rev, Mon- signor J. C. McLean: Deacons of Honor, Rev. M. Monaghan, Rev. L. smith; Deacon of the Mass, J. N. Poirler; Sub Deacon of the Mass, Rev. J. Nelligan: Master of Ceremonies. RM’. P. McMahon, D, D, The following music W88 rendered by the choir of st. Dunstan’; Basilica, under the direction of Mr. W. J. Brown: Kyrie (Concori) Gloria (Van Bree) Credo (Drebois) Sanctus (van Bree‘ Alznus Del (D’Archambean.) The solos throughout were admirab- iv taken by Rev. B. Gillls, S, F. Doyle l-Yld W. J. Brown, .____________ ANNOUNCEMENTS, The absence of His Lordship, Bishop Olseary, who took suddenly ill on Tuesday night, was a general cause of regret. ' Official Opening “You have no more devoted friends than those you made in College, with whom you contended on the campus and studied in the classroom and upon whom you played youthful and harmless pranks," said the Rector, Rev. J. A. Murphy in wel- coming the Alumni. "Many of you have come a. long distance and in rc- visiting the old scenes and recalling the many happy incidents, I hope that you will forget the passage of the years and each become a boy again. Undoubtedly you are all glad to attribute some of your success in life to your Alma Mater. "We are inclined to think of the past ocn such occasions. It was on Jan- uary, 11, 1855, when only three stu- dents, one of whom, Rev. Ronald V. MacDonald, died but a few years ago, were the first to enter. As we view this unpretentious opening we can not help but admire the vision, the faith and the courage of those men who founded this University. _ "St. Dunstanb has since laboured under great difficulties. Our endow- ment is confined almost entirely to maintenance.
