Militia R_eg'.' ____ Mr. Thomas L. Ramsay, of Ken- sington, formerly of Beach Point, has kindly left with us. for our perusal and comment, four of the Muster Rolls of the ten companies which composed the First Prince County _Regiment of Militia. Although they are dated 1868, thus being 62 years old, these interesting documents are in a most excellent state of preserva- tion and each one bears the signature of the Captain -in command of "the company. Mr. Ramsay: grandfather, Lieut-Colonel Donald Ramsaya of Beach Point, was then the Com- mandant of the Regiment and under him was Major Norman MacLeod Ramsay (1853). The Muster Rolla under review all bear date of June, 1868. and are for Companies 7, -s, 9 and 10. Thi! of Company No. 7, Maipeque, of which Captain Donald B. Macbel- lan was in command. bears al names; and cf them only one, Mr. John B. Macheilan, of indian River, is now living. Company No. B, New Annan, must- ered 9l on June 25th, 1868, under command of Captain William Jamie- son and of that gallant band only one is now living, Mr. William Maclviurdo, esteemed Summerslde citizen. Mr. Robert Neill ,a native of Kelvin. whose name appears as No. 53 on that roll, left the Island in 1870 And died ih»March last year in California at the age of 11 years, having amass- ed there an enormous estate of over $2,600,000, as recorded in our columns just about a year ago. Amongst ‘ben- eflcal-les under his will, to the ex- tent of between $25,000 and $30,000, were the following nephews and neices:-Mr. Norman MacMurdo, Mr. James Clark and Miss Jessie Clark, of Bedeque and Mrs. l-lattie MacLean, of Lot ld. ‘ On the Muster Roll- of Company No. 9, Kensington, under Captain Thomas H. Sims, 'll names appear. Of those then answering three are now living, namely:-Mr. James Par- sons. of Kensington; ` Mr. Thomas Donahue, of Kensington. and. Mr. Thomas Bryenton (spelled oni the Roll Bi-lent/on) of Spring valley.
