ray JOSH MARTINEZ The Hali Hundred I flipped my wig after hearing this CD. Really, its true. For all you unbelievers, Josh is a hip-hop hippy, and he was recently signed to the prestigious label Anticon Records. “Big Mouths,” “Outlook,” and “La Rambla” are three of the neatest tunes preserved on a slab of plastic. The Hali Hundred is a limited release, so you’re not going to find it in stores anywhere around here. So, if you want a copy, email <josh- martinez30@hotmail.com>. -ROC LIVERPOOL SOUND COLLAGE Paul McCartney, Super Furry Animals, and The Beatles Hydra This bizarre experiment in found sound harkens back to the spirit of McCartney’s progressive explo- rations near the collapse of the Beatles. Merging snippets of Beatles studio conversations with sound effects and beats, Liverpool Sound Collage is an album’s worth of material that is probably what the Fab Four would be using for hidden tracks, if they were a young band coming out of Liverpool today. But don’t expect to find any unearthed Beatles’ songs, or pop tunes on this album. McCartney and the Super Furry Animals stick with a scrap book formula of cut- ting and pasting sounds together, and it works on a sonic level in a few places thanks to some phat beats. Beatlemaniacs will find this album a challenging listen, and should probably avoid it the same way they should avoid retrospec- tives of Pete Best. -SML ROBBIE WILLIAMS Sing When You’re Winning Williams' second album is sure to out shine his debut album The Ego Has Landed. With more of an edge, it is clear that Williams is trying to break away from his eighties boy band roots. If you loved songs such as "Millennium" and "Angel", Sing When You're Winning will not dis- appoint you. This album also includes a song in Spanish and one in French. -KL White space.
