The first case tried was against a party from Elmsdale who was charged with illegal con- sumption of liquor, convicted and fined $15 and costs. A similar charge was preferred against a man from Bcdeque and Hie Honor also inflicted upon him a fine of $15 and costs; also‘ a man from Tryon was fined s20 and costs for a similier offence, The cases against a party from Baltic and also a Summereide man, both charged with having liquor unlawfully in their r ion, were adjourned until saith-day next for ‘further evidence. E. scholar- ship to Oxford University two years ago, which was renewed last year. Miss Hunt. the Regent of the Abe- gweit Chapter, presided over the gathering: After the luncheon Mr. White gave an interesting address on his work at Oxford and how he spent his vacations. In a simple. straightforward manner which im- pressed his hearers h; told of his, studies at Oxford and of the influ- ence which that great University has over the students who study within its historical colleges. He described in detail the beautiful buildings and grounds and many other things of inf/crest in the various famous col- leges.
