TTETOWNI who isi.n. FIRE Boo Al‘ weir Dastarilly Work. The fire bug is againvisiting, Ch’town. Not satisfied with his efforts of Sunday morning to burn our citizens out ‘of house and home, hegepeated his dastardly work on Monday morning. About 10.30 an alarm was sounded from box 212, (corner Kent and Rotchford Sta.) Although the fire was quite a distance from where the alarm was sent in, the firemen had a stream of water pouring on the burning building in a very few minutes. The owned by Mrs. Lowdcn, and used}?! M!‘- John Reid as a stable. From thence it. and a building owned by-Wm Mn:-ray,Esq. Mrs. Reid went across‘ the streets to a. neighbor's to get the time. She had not been gone long when her daughter came running after her to tell her the place was — on fire. Mr. Reid,wh3 was working on the‘ wharf at the time, noticing the smoke, left his work to see where the fire was, but was too late to save anything from the stable. — He lost two sets of new bar- ness and a number of working tools. The contents of- Mrs. Lockstt'a stable -were all burned. The horses were saved with difiieulty. The firs was a fisrcfi one and the firemen had some hard work be- fore they got it-under control. ‘ The firp was almost in the same apotaa that discovcredby Mrs. Cummings” Sun- day morning. Srnday evening a lamp half filled with oil was. found under the shed. Mr.‘ Reid was on the lookout all night but the incendiary did not show up. There was e very strong smell of troyed and Mr. Murray's building pretty well ‘gutted. Some sparks ignited on put out before they gained any headway. A better spot for a ccndagaration could not be found, as the were all was blowing at the time, and were it not for our brave firemen and excellent water system, ' no portion. of . our city would now be in ashes. — A thorough search should be made for the firo bug. » Such characters should not enjoy-‘British freedom another hour.
