Ill at ease . . . at her mun dinner table ICK’S ‘chief’ was pleasant and~friendly, but I knew that he had the fastidious standards of a man of culture and wealth. -' “I was so eager, as Dick's wife, to meet those standards. ' “It was a little thing which upset me~——just the merest change of expression on his face . . . I was pouring coffee, and for the fraction of a second his glance had rested on my hands. p “I knew my hands looked red and rough from housework and clishes—and knew he had noticed them . . . I became self-conscious, ill at ease. “Foolishly, perhaps, I felt the evening was a failure. “Now I know how NEEDLESS it was. Since I have been using Lux for dishwashing, for all cleans- ing my hands have to do—my hands are soft and smooth and white. I’m never embarrassed now by ‘dishpan’ hands.” I So many soaps-whether flake, chips, or cakes—— contain harmful alkali which makes the skin harsh. There is NO injurious alkali in Lux! Made by a remarkable process—Lux actually SOOTHES the skin, leaves it a little whiter and softer than before.* . i Dissolving instantly, before you ever put your hands in, a little Lux foams up into a mountain of suds——so rich, so cleansing, the dishes seem almost to wash themselves. The big package of Lux washes six weeks’ dishes. Lovely hands for so small a price! I , ‘Mom! beauty parlors use Luz in nurnicurinq the nail. fa so{lm and whilm lluflrwlrs. All new—all from the most reliable During the past week five cars of . live stock were handled by the 15-: land clubs. In view oi the present good price for lambs, many clubs‘ are marketing this class oi live stock quite freely. Over 1,000 head have been shipped out of the province during ‘the past six weeks. There has been a keen demand for lamb‘; at 1-ic delivered. It is hoped thut many farmers will ship their lambs while the price remains comparaq‘ tively high. Keeping them until October or November is a. sure way, to weaken the market at that time. All farmers having buck lambs‘ should ship them before Sept. 15th,‘ after which date a heavy cut will be made. The past week has been one oi grew: significance to Maritimel swine growers. In years past farm-l ers noted the discrepancy between Montreal and Maritime hog prices.’ Last week ior the first time in the history oi the loul swine industry. Maritime prices were higher than Montreal. Montreal quoted around .13 l-ic, while Maritime packers paid .140 to thsShipping Clubs on a. delivered basis. The Shipping Clubs are render- ing s valuable service to the live stock uosrs in that live stock of any may be shipped st the| time when prises are high. A good, market ior veal calvém has been made available w the isrmers. It is‘ hopes that many will take advent-f age oi this, and thus prevent the wasteful slaughter oi young calves for" little more than the value oi the bide. Calves should not be shipped when under one month, and to secure the prevailing top price oi .9c they should weigh around 200 pounds. A considerable number oi cattle are being shipped through the clubs.
