October 29th, at the Montague Scout Hall, Mr. Douglas Nicholson was presented with the Long Service Medal of tho Boy Scouts by the Boy Scout ex- ecutive committee, in the presence of the Boy Scout Master" Mr. Eric Duvar, the Boy Scout troop, the Wolf Cub Leader, Mr. Allistalr Currie, and the Wolf pack. The presentation was made by Mr. Archie Hume, Chairman o! the committee, and Mr. W. R. Gilbert, secretary, Mr. Nicholson joined the Montague troop as a Scout in 193-1 under the leadership of Mr. Hume who was then the Scoutmaster. Having completed the tenderfoot, ,.=econd class. and first class test. 1M1‘. Nicholson went on to acquire Ihis King Scout. Status in a very few years. During lus scouting. he showed great interest and enthus- iasm and earned a large number of badges. Following the war, Mr. Nicholson reorganized the troop as ficoutmaster and made it once more .a progressive unit which gave as- fsistance to every community fun~ Iction. He also helped to organize the ‘Wolf Cub Pack, which now includes many oi the youngsters in Mon- tague. Owing to pressing business he has since resigned as Scout Master, but continues as honorary assistant Scout Master, and offers Ihis assistance to the development ‘and progress to the Montague Boy ‘Scout. October, 8th, the Ladies of the Uniiedi Church gathered at the home ‘of Mrs. Charles Fraser for a Misoel-I laneous shower in honor of Miss. Jean Adams whose marriage tookl place on Saturday. The bride wasf ushered in to a prettily decorated‘ chair over hung by a watering can with showers of ribbons fallingf on the bride. Scrap books telling, the story of the wedding were‘ made by groups and presented the bride to be judged. The win- ning group was presented with a. prize. The many gifts were brought in in Imperial Oil buckets. by Minnie Greene, who was dressed in an Imperial Oil Uniform. Tho gifts were opened by the bride and the many verses were read by Pearl Greene. A delicious lunch was ser- ved and a social half hour enjoyed by all. The singing of "For She's A Jolly Good Fellow." and “Good Night Ladies" brought an en- joyable evening to a close. rather a hope that you may con- tinue in service. It was my pleasure years ago to invest you as a Boy Scout and I am very happy to see that my efforts were worth while. Oct. kd. time passed away at her homo in Mldgell, P. E. Island. Emma Battersby. wife of the late Rnbert Better-shy, at the age of 88. The funeral was held on Oct. 0th, with a short service at the home, followed by a service in the Marie United Church, and was lu-‘gly attended. The service was con- ducted by her pastor, Rev. D. W. MacPherson, asdsted by Rev. M. K. Charman of Cornwall. She was buried beside her husband in the Marie Cemetery. At the homo Mrs. John Mac. Callum sane "Some Time Well Understand."
