Sin.—At last night’s meeting of the City Council, the magistrate stated that there is now on the police force men who are not fit for the position. He was not contradicted by any of the councillors, and indeed it would be hard for them to con~ scieatiously do so ; for we all «now there are one or twoat last on the force whoare in no respect fit for the job. I would ask why are those men kept on ? Te it not time the force was renovated? There are plenty of men snxious for the job who would comply with Counci'tor Horne’s re« eolutien, and Jet those who have the pow- er to dismiss and eppointsct, aod act im- mediately. Citizens desire this, and I trust action will be taken at once. Goodness knows a change in this ¢epartment is ex< ceedingly neceseary.
