Ons ror Tue N. P.—The Gates Urgan and Piano Co. at Truro, employ twenty-tive hands during the winter. Since /ast spring 140 organs and 24 pianos have been com pleted and orders yet remain unfilled The London Free Press points out that} since Confederation thirty-five bills have; . been jdisallowed. The Department of Militia has just re-| ceived the first box of cartridges, which has been manufactured at the Government cartridge manufactory, Quebec. The De- artment has been supplied in the past rom England, but some time ago Major Prevost went to England and after going through a regular course of instruction re- turned to Quebec and started the manufac- tory. The Pacific Syndicate claim to have con- structed 600 miles of railway, entitling them to 7,500,000 acres of land. The Government have not been able to survey the land fast enough. The company have obtained 4,000,000 acres along the main line and for the balance due to them have accepted all the odd numbered sections in the old province of Manitoba, west of the Red River and south of the main line. Mann, the murderer of the Cooke family at Little Rideau, has been committed for trial. He continues to exhibit the wetety bravado. The murder has excited great terror in the locality. A little girl, a relative of the Cookes, died recently from inflammation of the brain, produced by fright. A neighbor rapped at her uncle's door to enquire the way to a distant point. He had an axe over his shoulder, and the little creature evidently had an impression that he intended to murder her, for she went into hysterics and died before re- medial measures could be taken. The Journal of Commerce takes Mr, Blake’s measure very accurately, when, referring to his recent utterances at Bow- manville on the subject of the right of Canada to negetiate her own commercial treaties, ‘it says :—‘‘We fear very much that Mr. Blake’s object in barping on this treaty question. is that he knows that it is impossible, so long as Canada isa depen- dency of Great Britain, for her to be per- mitted to negotiate directly with foreign powers, although she gets all pessible assist- ance to do so in concuzrence with Great Britain. It is thought, therefore, to be a good card for an Opposition leader to play.” ” noe fhe Great French Remedy, Dr. LeDuc’s Periodical Pills. — Por ‘he cure of Leucorrhea or White's Excessive or nful Menstruation, Green Sickness, Falling of the omb, Catar-h of the Uterus or Vagnia, Hysteria, Pain in the Back, or Piles, or for the puepose of in- vigorating and giving tone to the Generative Organs, two pills should be taken twice daily, or in. very én- febled conditions, one pill three times aday, To effect cures in chronic cases it will be neeessary to continue the use of the remedy for some months.
