Sin,— HAVE the honour to transmit to you, for your information, a copy of a Despatch, addressed by Her Majesty’s Acting Consul at Buenos Ayres, respecting the services rendered to the mate and five seamen of the Ship “ Alma," of Liverpool, by the Schooner Mary Helen, of Prince EdWard- Island. I have much pleasure in requesting that you will present the accompanying Sextant, awarded, by their Lordships, to Captain John Wood, Master of the Mary Helen, in acknowledgment of his humane services on the occasion. Sm,— I beg to report to you an act of great kindness, done by a Brit— ish shipmaster, Mr. John Wood, Master of the British Schooner “ Mary Helen,” official number, 46,803, P. M.,.Prince Edward Island, employed in the Coasting Trade between this Port and Patagonia—he having picked up aboat’s crew of the shipwrecked British Ship Alma (of Liverpool, official number 32,886), whom he found in an exhausted state, they having been in the boat for five days, on 25th April last, about~l30 miles E. S. E. of Point Medano. The Mary Helen was bound to Laguna de les Padres,.and upon taking the above men on board, he proceeded to his destination, where his vessel was detained four weeks, and, during all this time, the shipwrecked men were maintained by the said Captain Wood, and subsequently brought to, and landed safely at, this Port, on the let instant, without making any ch .rge whatever. CarVell, Esqpirc, Administrator of the said Estate, now on file, setting forth that the Personal Property ,of the said deceascd was insulficientto pay oththc debts due by the said Estate, and praying that License may be granted to him to sell the lteal. Estate of the said deceased to pay oil the said debts, so far as the same may re alise; and also upon reading a certified copy of the Inventory of the property of the said deceased, also on tile, and annexed to the said petition. Now, therefore, I do order that the parties inter- ested in the said Estate do appear before me in the Court House of the Colonial Building, in Charlottetown, in the said Island, on MONDAY, the Thirty-first day of DECEMBER, inst., at noon of the same day, to shew Cause, if any they can, why the prayer of the said petition should not be granted; and I do further order that a true copy of this order be published in the Royal Gazette newspaper of this Island, for at le‘ast three consecutive weeks from the date hereof, so that all parties interested in the said Estate may havo notice thereof.
