The Grand Jurors, having concluded their labors, were this forenoon discharged. | Previous to their discharge Mr. Angus, the foreman of the jury, submitted the following report on behalt of himself and Rebeocs Wadman and others vs. | H. Wadmao. Grand Jury Room, July 3rd, 1896. We the Grand Jurors of our Sovereign Lady the Queen, summoned for Trinity Term of the Supreme Court, A. D. 1896, submit the following report : — We have visited the Jail, Asylum and Poor House. The Jail we found well looked after, cleau, and the officers capa- ble and efficient. In che Asylum we found everything done by its officers and attendauts for the good government and comfort of its in- mates. The provis.ons were examined and pronounced wholesome and goud. The wards were clean and well attended to, but the building is altogether inadequate fur the comfort or health of such w# large aumber of patienty, all the sleeping rooms having about fifty percent, more patients than they should have, and we were plea:ed to hear that it is the intention of the government to have an addition made to the present building. Attne Poor House we found that the spring house cleaning had not yet been dene, and some of the wards were in any- thing but a proper state of cleanliness for the comfort aud health of the inmates. and there does. not seem to be sufficient help to keep them in proper condition. We would direet the attention of the authorities to this institution, and hope that matters will be remedied as soon as possible. We believe the officer in charge is doing what he caa with the meens aths d sposal. Our attention was directed toa sewer which discharged into the harbor at the foot of Great George Street, which is claimed to be a nuisance inasmuch as it is a menace to the health of the citizens who live and do business in that locality in summer, and destroys one of the principal landings from the ice in winter. We the:efore summoned a number of gentlemen before us and after hearing their evidence, we find that the nuisance complained of was thoroughly established and would draw the attention of the authorities to this matter for their imme- diate attention. All of which is respectfully submitted. Aw O1p And WeELL Trikp Remepy.— Mis.
