They are all that are needed unless there is actual disease in the house. It is not at all necessary te keep carbolic acid standing about a bath- if ebsolute cleanliness prevails. There are the so called disinfectants—de- odorizers, which take away bad odors, but do not destroy the cause; antiseptics and others that are largely composed of oxygen, which is easily given out to combine with | the same element destroying effete matter, rmanganate of potassium is another, th being effective. Copperas merely precipitates solid matter from liquid, but does not destroy more than the bad odor. Charcoal is good as a disinfectant, but its process is slow. It is a goed plan to al- ways keep a piece of it in the refrigerator.
