Brown, chief of the departments dental health division. today said there has been ii "statistically sig- nilicant and progressive" decrease in dental caries among Brantford children. The drop in caries in the i948-54 period was about 79 per cent in the 6-8 years age group, 44 per cent in the 9-11 group and 36 per cent in the 12-14 group. Mechanical fluoridation in Brant- ford was started for the first time in Canada in June. 1945. since then a concentration of one to 12 parts of iluoride per mission has been maintained continuously in the water supply, compared with a natural concentration of about 1.6 parts per million in Startford.
