R McMahor, station agen: at Emerald, was in Charlottetown over night, and tule morning proceeded to his home, Mr. McMahon bas been spendiog a well- merited holiday in Ottawa, Montreal and other Canadian cities, und reports having an exceediogly pleasant outing. Whilst in Ottawa be saw Mr. J W Wughes and many of the other [slanders residing at the capital, all of wnom he reports in good health and doing we!l. Mr. McMabon wasin Montreal until seven o'clock on the evening of the day ihe news came of the relief of Ladysmith, sud was an eve-witness of some of the pranks of the McGill and Laval etudents. He witnessed the demonstration of the McGill boys, and sawtbem break op:n the door of La Presee office and put up Briieh fisge. After the door cf La Presse office was forced open by the etadents a fight took place inside, and two or three of the stu dents emerged considerably the worse [cr their exp+rience. Mr. McMahon aleo saw the counter de. moustration of the Lavai boys,who pulled down the Britisb flags the McGill studeut: put vp while they sang the Mar: laise und other Freoch airs. While this was going on a crowd on the opposite side of the street sang“ Rule Brittania” and other patriotic aire. On his way bome Mr. McMabon had his firat expervence of a railway wreck,and he willl: kely reraember the circumstance for sometime. The wreck occurred at a place called L’Acadia, about twenty -three miles from Montreal, on the lst of March. Tt seems that an engine and caboose witn L’Acadia stuck fast in abank. The engine and caboose were eepsrated from tie Halitax express came thundering along and ran into the engine of the clearing train. The collision badly battered both | engines, and the caboose tock fire.
