This was followed by the presentation of a beautiful uphol- stered armchair to eaclyby James Jar-dine and John Walker and a leather handbag to Miss Hattie Laird by the chairman. Each _re_- plied in a few well chosen wordl. thanking their friends and neigh- bors ior their expression of good will, and extending a cordial invi- tation to all. to their new home. After the speeches a dainty lunch was served by the ladies. The remainder of the evening was spent in music, games and pleasant conversation.
