were prettiiy arranged and on them
was an abundance of fancy work of
all kinds from the prosaic kitchen a-»
pron to the daintiest lingerie and
centxges, one could desire.-The refresh-
ment" table, ice-cream and candy tab-
les were laden with the latest in the
culinary art, while the young ladies
serving five' oolock tea were kept
busily engaged for some hours. The
tea tables of course were the _centres
of attraction and were laden with an
abundance of salads, creams, cakes,
pastry, "etc, The ladies of St. James
are noted for their cooking, .but last
evenings tea was voted by those pres-
ent as the best ever given by them.
