not be contradicted before the polling
takes place. Among these 'false stale-
incnts is that the police court records
show un increasing number of arrests
for drunkenness in Charlottetown. The
reverse of this is ti-ue, and known to bs

papers hero..
Surnrrierslde electors today will show hy
their votes whether they desire the open
saloon as they have had lt,orhave thabars
closed down. They will say by their
votes whether they wish the lnws of the
land to bo honestly enforced or perverted
from their honest purpose. Everywhere
throughout Canada public sentiment is
growing stronger against the open bar.
Scores of municipalities in Ontario have
given their voiea to close tho bars and
snloons since tha new year cams in. We
believe the best sentiment of Suuirnorside
is in favor ofiulilre course. It will be
creditable to Samuierslde today if a
nraiority vote is recorded “Against the
Act," with thc oblcct. of closing the

ln the federal plchiscito of 1808 Prince
County gave u large majority in favor of
Prohibition. Thd result was as follows :
In West Prince l852| votes were thrown

vote stood 2,003 for and 212 against. The
total vote in the County for Prohibition
was li,355nnd the total vote against It
