PRESENTATION.-At the close of the service in the Presbyterian Church Marie, on Xinag evening, the pastor Rev. J. M. MacLeod was presented with an address and a purse of $100 in gold, from the three sections of St. Petei"s Bay congregation, us a taken oi appreciation of ‘-his, services. On the occasion, Mr. Judson Webster, Chairman oi the Board of Managers. presided in his usual efiiolent manner; Mr. R, R. Webster, Sec’y-Treas. of the eongregaltlon, read a splendid address expressing the esteem amd good wish- es o fthe people, and Mr. Everit Webster made the presentation in a happy manner. Mr. MacLeod made a suitable reply, expressing Yhils great appreciation of the complimentary ad- .dress and the gift that accompanied .it. This was -followed' by an address accompanied by 'a handsome sum of money to Mrs. MacLeod, ii-om thetwo Auxiliaries of Marie and Greenwich. The address was read by Mrs. Free- -man Bowley, and the presentation made by Mrs. R. R. Webster. Mrs. MacLeod who was taken by surpirsc, replied tlhainking the donors for their 'kind remembrance and good wishes. After a few happy speeches, from the Chairman and oithers the 'meeting closed 'by singing “Blest be the tie that binds.” MEMORIAL BUSARY. - 'l‘|io students of Pine Hill Theological col- lege, Halifax, N. S. are endeavoring to raise $7.000 in order to establish seven Memorial Bursaries of $1,000 each to the memory of the theological students of that college who gave Hill College has had n proud record in the war. _A__mong the _very first to enlist in the city of Halifax during the autumn of 1014 was a band of about eighteen students of that college. These were later followed by every physically fit man of the Institution. Seven of these lads were killed in action. The college has received a great inspiration which the students wish kept in lasting remembrance. This they feel can be done lnost ef- fectively"oy means of the Memorial Bursaries. These bursaries are worth $50 each per year and this amount will be pal;1 annually to students for the Ministery who need financial as- sistance. Each Bursary will always be named after one of these lads who have made the supreme sacrifice. One of the students belonged to_ Prince Edward Island and our share there- fore will be one thousand dollars. The Freshylteniau dlhurches of the l’r<» vlnce have all received special envelopes and literature on the sub- ject and it is felt that a very generous response will be made to this worthy cause. The editor in chief, Mr. R.G. McBeth, a War Veteran, is to be con- gratulated net only on the original historical matter presented but on the excellence of the contributions from other writers. The Annual contains historic and descriptive matter con- cerning this, the most picturesque arm of the Canadian Government service. Five views of scenes and incidents with which the R. N. W. M. P. were associated and excellent photographs of the present and former ufilcers are given. Among these are photographs of Mr. A. A. McLean, of the R. N. W. M. P., the "LaNauze Patrol," showing Inspector LaNauze who re- cently visited thiscity, and his squac of five men, together with the two Eskimo murderers whom they arrest- ed after n search of about two years in the frozen north. A sketch is also given of the late Hon. David Laird, Lieutenant Governor of Manitoba, who negotiated _the treaty with the dif- ferent Indian tribes and whom the Indians called “the man who talked straight."
