THE death took place at his home Glad-
stone, Lot 64, on May llth, of Captain
John W. Horton, aged 81 years, 4 months
and 14 days. Deceased was A native of
Guyshorougb County, Nova Scotia, and
came to Gladstone (then part nf Murray
River School District) from Cape Canso
in 1852. Ha was well and favorably
known in all this section of country. For
anumber of years his health has been,
poorly and during the winter months was
confined to the house but few thought
the sud so near till a short time before his
death. He was a good man and an earn-
est friend of temperanoe, and has gone to
his reward. He leaves to mourn his wife,
live daughters and three sons. The
daughters are: Mrs. George Mabey, Glad-
stone; Mrs. Archie McDonald, Murray
Harbor South; Mrs. W. H. Potter, Finley,
North Dakota; Mrs. Fred O. Hanson,
Fiaxton, North Dakota; Adelia E. at
home. The sons fare: Daniel A., on the
homestead; William A., Captain of
schooner B. S. Keeper; John A. in the
employ of Wansgauset Machine Co , New
York. He also leaves 14 grand-children.
