WaskIneTon, Oct 7. The statement contained in a despatch from Ottawa published in the papers, that the British sealer Otto had been seized by the arn nee ship Mohican on ac- count of irregularity in papers, is pro- nounced at the Navy De advanes as sien without a foundation. Reports received from the commander of the Mohican shows that the Otto was seized on August 3lst for violation ot the modus vivendi. She was taken on the Behring Sea with a full sealing outfit and 48 es! skins on board. It appears that five days before the seizure was made, Commander Cotton received an official letter from Cnamander Turner, senior British Naval Officer at Ounalaska stating that he con- ei-iered the Otta a just and lawful capture fur any vessel of war of either uations. No question srose in reference to her papers. The Otta was delivered two days after her capture to the commanding officer of H. M. S. Pheasant at Onnalaska. Blown to F-agments. Lonpon, Oct. 7.
