mas time was a time of doing deeds
of mercy; that whatever our llarids
find to do should be done for the
glory of God and in the interests
of ollr fellow men. And whether it
bein the visitation of the sick and
the afflicted or whether it be in
the literal sense of thc word mercy
in the forgiveness and pardon of
men, or whether it be in the sharing
of gifts at the Christmas season, all
these should be done in cheerful-
ncsa and gladness of heart.. The
apostle is calling upon men to do
exactly what Cicd has done for
them.
Music for the evening included
a chorus "Come and Worship," from
the Cantata, The Christmas King,
by the choir; a mixed quartette,
"There ls Room ln My Heart For
Thee" and an anthem, "Christians
Awake, Salute the Happy Mom."
The text of the morning sermon
was taken from Luke 2:15, “let us
now lo even unto Bethlehem and
see this thing which is come to
pass, which the Lord hath made
known \mto us."
The morning music included s

tata “The Christmas King." A
beautiful tenor solo. "See Amid the
Winters snow," was sung by Mr.

hymns, both moming and evening,
were very impresivs as rendered by
the full choir.
In the evening the service was en-
tirely choral, and consisted of solos,
carols and anthems. The boys’ and
girls' choir delighted the congrega-
tion in several fine carols, their
sweet voices and clear enunciatlcn
being heard distinctly throughout
the large church. The soloists in-
cluded Mlss J. Alchorn, Mrs. H. S.
Henderson, Miss Iena M;-'.ure, and
Miss Marjorie Wood, Sopranos, Mr.
Arthur Bruce, tenor, and _‘.1r. Char-
les MacKenzie, baritonl-, and each
was heard with fine ciicct. It was
an unexpected pleasure to hear Mr
Bruce. who came over from Morm-
tcn, NB., to spend Christmas at
his old home.
The choir deserves special com-
mendation for the rendering of the
different anthems appropriate lo the
season As usual with the produc-
tions by St. James' choir, the work
was well prepared, the music being
sung with perfect facility and with
evident enjoyment and appreciation
The service was highly creditable to
the choir leader, Mrs J A Lawson
the organist, Mrs. Keith Rogers
and all who participated.
