The wrestling match in the People's Theatre last night was attended by a- bout 300 people. Jim Smart propos- ed to down Jim Prokes once in an hour, toehold and strangleholds lm,-,,¢|_ for a purse of $100. C. H. Qberdick was chosen as referee and Byron Brown as timer. The match started at 9.20 and in the ensuing oontest the swift work of the preced- ing engagement between these two men was somewhat lessened owing to me (set that Prokes was not forced eo work but kept on the defensive while Smart had to be the sgressor. In his defense work Prokes was splen- did and broke many sure looking holds. Smart at one time was warned for adopting improper tactics. He had a stranglehold and when made let it go he left the mat, having to be called hack. Prokes held his man for about eight minutes more and refused to wrestle though requested to do so many times by the referee, saying Smart had to do the work. The match ended with no falls and Prokes was therefore de- clared the winner. The Manager of the theatre states ‘ that as the public do not evidently appreciate the low prices charged the Prokes- Smsrt match will probably be the last match staged for some considi crnblc time. ::Don't cough," when you can cure yourself so quickly and pleasantly with Rexsll' cherry juice-this truly delicious medicine is really very ef- fectual. LONDON, Feb, 12-A novel method of breaking and entering other peo- ule’s premises has been adopted by a man who is believed tob be known to the police as an expert burglar. Recently complaints have beenl receiv- ed that efforts have been made to break into a number of flats in the west end, and investigation has shown that the method employed has in each case been similar. Apparently the criminal, a well dressed geiitlemanly looking man, sometimes attired in a dress suit and immaculate white shirt and at others in a dark suit, with flat-crowned, broad-hrimmcd bowler hat and light fawn overcoat of "Newmarket" cut, drives up to ii block of flats in a taxicab during the early hours of the morning. He asks the night porter for a number, and, instead of using the lift-, prefers to walk upstairs. Next he cuts a panel out of the fromt door of the flat, and bv this gains an entran'ce,rifling the rooms at his lei- BUY8. ` The last exploit occurred at Bick- cnhall Mansion, but lie must have ,been disturbed, for when the servants ,put in an appearance the front door _ of a flat was found pierced through, and ii leather bag of tools was found on thc LONDON Fel” 12-S“P°"“““"“ “°` ‘msc outside it.
