Mr Alexander More (chairman)—Now, gents, this is the fourth meeting to make a | name for this institution, which,as you all know, stands here in front ot my do mains and that I placed it there “by the might of my power.” Butour meetings are like # mountain in Isbor which brought torth nothing. Our old name isa bumbug. Its orthography bothers me in its variations of Stanchall, Stencholl, Stenchal!, Statche!l, &c, &c. 1 excommuns icate them all. I produce the name “Columbian,” or else make another iv conformity with the foregoing. Now, men, business! business! Mr. Angus Allao.—I epring from my forefathers and therefore this school is called afier the birth place of them in old Scotia. How dare you tarnish the lustre of my pedigree. 1 bold on the good old name *“Stanchhill.” Mr. Robert Miller. —For my own partI don’t care asnap whatpname you give it. But I would call it * Helter Skelter.” Mr. Perry Kealy.—I repudiate you al! as a pclybedrical crowd. Your school is but a Babel. You may call it “Heteroc- lite”? if yon will, so yon may. Mr. Malcolm Donei!.—I rise my progeny by sound English and classical loretoa bigh status in the world. So call 1 ‘*Ciceronian.” Mr. J R Whiteman.— If you can’t agree about this punyand pvolyonomous thing you best tumble it out of the way, and I’ll soon build vou one worthy of the name. Mr. Jobn S Mill.—If you do not exer~ cise moderation, common sense and less bombast in your choice of name I will criticise you allin the next issueof my “poetical and opbilosophic.] journal ” What about “the might of your power,’ “pedigree” or “high status.” “A man’s a man fora’ that.” [am descended from the Royal Stuart line of Great Britain, but I make nc boast of it. I fancy “Hex- cetahedrua” would best suit your tastes for a nawe. Chairman’s Decision—Know all men ty these presents that whereas the pame “Columbian” is so magnanimously agreed on, be it therefore enacted that from henceforth and forevermore this seminary of learning be called after him. THE SEAL FISHERY Five Propositions Before the Com- mission. Wasninetron, Nov 30.—The regulations fixed by the award of the Paristribunal of urbitration in 1893, for the control of the seal fisheries, expired atthe close of the fisbing season of 1898,80 that something must be done fin the premises, whether a treaty be made or not. There are five propositione before the commissioa -— 1. Tocentinue the present condition of affairs under the provisions ot the award of 1893, 2. To make new regulations to control the fisheries, beginning with the season of 1899. 3. Toeffect a new method of regulation by agreement in or out ofa genera! treaty. 4. For Canada to dispose of its interest in the fisheries, including the vessels en - gagedin them, tothe United States fora cousideraiion. 5. For the United States to sell to Canada and withdraw from the field. It is no secret that the Canadians favour a sale of their interest to the United Stater, and that it would be the outcome of the negotiations, were it notfor the fact that the appraisers are so far apart in their views of what Canada ought to receive. This wide diversity has led the commis- sioners to adiscussion ofthe other pro- positions named, but they hope to be able to reach a satisfactory compromise and effectan agreement. It is believeed that & treaty containing a provision for the saie by the United States of the Behring Sea fisheries to Canada would receive but scant courtesy in the Senate,,and it is bardly a possibility. = om — — Mrs. WRIGHT, OF NoRVAL, ONT., EXPERI- ENCES INTENSE SUFFERING FROM EczZEMA IN HER FEET. Raw From Her Toes to ier Knees Dr. Chase Makes a Wonderful Cure. Mrs. Knight, 17 Hanover place, To- ronto, makes the following state- ment :— My mother, Mrs. Wright, who lives at Norval, . near Doncaster, suffered a summer and winter with Eczema in her feet. She could not walk, and very seldom got any sleep. It became so bad that she was perfectly raw from the toes to the knees. After trying every available remedy without receiving any bene- fit, and almost hopeless of relief, she was advised to try Dr. Chase’s Oint- ment. She has altogether used 8 boxes since commencing, but with the hap- piest results, for she is now complete- ly cured. There is but one scar on one of her feet, a memento of her fearful suffering condition. Any person de- siring further testimony in this case is at liberty to communicate with Mrs. Wright at her address, Norval P. O. Mrs. Knight says after such a grand success, is it any wonder we fre- commend Dr. Chase’s Ointment ? W. H. De Long, Civil Engineer, ex- Warden, and County Councillor, New Germany, Lunenburg Co., N. 8., Oct 28th, 1897, says :—‘‘I had itching piles for thirty years, and have tried various kinds of pile cures, but none gave me permanent relief until I used Dr. Cha ~’s Ointment.
