At the races held in Worcester, Maas., on June 3rd, the winner of first money of a purse of $400 in the 2.32 class trotting and pacing, was the roon gelding Tele- phone. There were seven starters in the race, which was finished in four heats. Telephone won the second, third and fourth, making a reduced record of 2 32 in the third heat. This horse is well-known on this Island; he was bred near Cape Traverse, and was sired by Abdallah, Jr., a son of Abdallah Messenger, 4469, (owned by John O’Ronaghan.) Tele- phone was onco owned by Mr !Pope Clark, of the P, E. I. Rail- way, who sold him to Mr. McKie, the well- known horse-buyer of this city. Mr. Me- Kie, after purchasing the horse, put him in ‘the hands of Mr. Carroll of Pictou, who worked him, for a short time with good re- sults. Mr. McKie entered him in some races and won a good share of the purses He sold him shortly afterwards to parties in the United States for a handsome figure, netting a good margin ou the investment In 1888 Telephone had a record of 2.36. In 1889 he did not do much on the track; he started in one race in fast company but did avt reduce his record.
