Art four o’clock to-day, His Lordship the Chief Justice, in the presence of the Lieutenant-Governor, and many leading citizens, presented Colonel Dunn, who is about to leave the Province, with the fol- lowing ADDRESS : Cotoverz Davip M. Dusy, United States Consul for Prince Edward Island :--_ Sir,—We are sorry to learn of your intend- ed departure from Prince Edward Island, and, while feeling pleasure at your well-merited promotion in the service of the Great Country you represent, we cannot refrain from express- ing our regret that your advancement necessi- tates the closing of those official and social relations whieh, during the whole period of your residence here, have been of an unusually pleasant and friendly nature. The mercantile portion of the community entertain a deep sense of the uniform courtesy which they have, on all occasious, experienced at your hands, and take this opportunity of assuring you of their es of the kindness with which you have invariably given valuable advice and assistance to those requiring your help in business matters, The twelve years of your stay among us have been marked by important changes in our history. At the time of your arrival, this Island was a separate colony of Great Britain. You witnessed our progress before Union with Canada, and you have seen the results which have followed thatevent. During your term of office you have been enabled to form an intimate acquaintance with our people and the resources of the Province. We wish Mrs. Dunn and family much happiness in their new home, and beg to assure them that their places in the regard of the Citizens of Charlottetown will not easily be supplied. d We venture a hope that you will carry to the distant scene of your future lahors, mem- ories of your sojourn in Prince Edward Island, not less pleasant than we shall long enter- tain of your stay in our midst.
