Apply ot KXAMINER O'fice, azut Bar Iron the military staff and aides-de-camp were ‘in close attendance upon the queen, and an escort of life guards, in brilliant uniforms, preceded and fol- |lowed the carriages. It was a stately and picturesque cavalcade that flashed by the crowds of spectators who had been waiting ‘for hours to see it, and whenit came they had onlyeyes for the little lady with white hair, whose aged face was brightened with a sympathetic smile, and when it had passed it was the most natural thing in the world for them te sing “God Save the Queen.” All military arrangements for this | splendidtewn show had been admirably ‘ordered by the Duke of Connaught, | on the lines followed by Lord Methuen in the Jubilee parade. The throng of spectators was similar but not less en- enthusiastic. The streets were not decorated a§ artistically as those of Amsterdam* were in coronating its queen, but there was a gloriaus revel the color red being the predominating tone. The names of Irish regiments were conspicuous in Merrion Square, and inscriptions of welcome to the Queen, but there was a glorious revel, touching being ‘‘Better loved ye can- not be welcome back.” The men of Trinity college appeared there in their gowns and college green, with a company of Imperial Yeomanrk not far away. At the lord chancellor's home an immense khaki banner was display- ed, and from anothe house there hung the flag which Theophilus Shepstone had raised in Pretoria when the Trans- vaal was annexed twenty years ago. The American Flag was even more conspicuous than it was atthe London jubilee, for it was seen in well nigh every block. The Queen appeared to be much af- fected by the form of her welcome. Mr. Burke,a son of the former city sword bearer, took the place of James Egan, the sword bearer who had re- fused to officiate, but the Lord mayor himself handed the sword and keys to Her Majesty, who touched them. The ceremonies atthe city gate were most picturesque. London’s jubilee Lord Mayor, Sir George Faudel Phillips, de- clared that the reception and ceremo- nies were the finest he had ever seen, far surpassing thoseof the great ju- bilee. In reply to the address of welcome of the township commissioners of Kingstown, the Queen handed the following to the chairman : “TIthank you for your loyal and dutiful address and for the warm wel- come with which you have greeted me. On setting foot again on Irish soil I receive with great satic:action your assurances of devotion and affection to- ward me. I am looking forward with much pleasure to my visit to this part of my dominion andI pray may God bless Ireland with increasing welfare and prosperity.” As this written reply was handed to the chgirman Her Majesty said : “I am cain’ to find myself in Ireland again,” ——ae DR- GORDON ALLEY PHYSICIAN & SURGEON (Graduate McGill University) Offiee Hours—® to 10, a. m., lite 3 and 7 te 8, p. m. | | Office and Resideace —Derchester Stree Prempt attention to ceuntry calle.
