Flee Facilities In East Wiltshire School congratulations are extended to the trustees and rate payers of East. Wiltshire district in the com- pletion of their modern and beau- mully finished new school. For a number of years it was agreed. that the former school which had served several genera- tions. was outmoded and in times when the cost of financing pre- sented a formidable problem. the people of this district were requir- ed to make the decision of provid- ing better educational facilities for their children. They realized that this need onsiderr came before f ' ' lion and early last year a site was selected Just across the road from the former building which has stood for years at the junction of the Cornwall and the Kingston roads. The building which was con- structed by Mr. Lloyd MaoKinnon, general contractor of New Haven. lacks nothing of which the latest one room school can boast. The exterior is finished in red cedar shingles with fireproof shinglesgon the roof. Tastefully Decorated The interior is very tastefully decorated in soft pastel shades to reduce eye strain to a minimum. on the south side there are five large windows of clear glass which will be fitted with blinds. On the north side there are four windows of smaller size in translucent glass. A brown masonite panelling provides the wainscoating to a height of five feet around the en- tire class room. The floor is covered with inlaid tile squares and a hot air floor (urnace keeps the school amply heated at all times. The furnace is electrically operated and burns oil. For occasions when artificial lights are required. well placed lighting in the ceiling can flood the building to a remarkable bril- liance. Cloak rooms. teacher; room, .wash rooms and toilets are included in this up to date build- ing. The basement with plenty of im- ubstructed floor space will provide use for many occasions as time goes on. East Wiltshire school will be of- ficially opened this evening at 8 o'clock by Dr. L.W. Shaw. deputy minister and director of educa- tion. The teacher of the school. Miss Bernice Flood and the pupils SPRINGVALE W. I.
