W. M. Lea, premier of the Island Province, em- phasized in addressing the directors luncheon at the Canadian National Exhibition. Today was Prince Edward Island Day, and Premier Lea was the guest of honor. M I remedy for the situation, he forcefully maintained that freight rates over long hauls in Canada should be reduced, even at the cost of higher short distance charges. Prtmier Leo, coupled with this pro- posal a plea for increased 1'ederal subsidies to Prince Edward Island, long justified by economic ,reasons which he outlined.
