Creek River, Lot G3. 'l‘he deceased
was in the 72nd year of his age. He
had been in failing health from heart
trouble for the last two or three
years. Mr. McSwaiii was born in the
Higlil:i.nds of Scotland, froiii whence
his parents emigrated to l’. ld. ls-
land in the year 1840, and settled in
King's County, in the vicinity of
Highhiink. In early life the tlceeiiscil
was it hardworkiiig, industrious man.
He was among the early settlers of
Creek River, where he inade for him-
sell si honie and farm, cutting down
the forest and clearing the land_, con-
verting the heavy wood into timber
for ships and wharves, and hauling
the same to shipyi-irds and to Mur-
ray ltiver. He was also fond of tak-
ing contracts for roads and bridges.
'l`lie deceased was ii inun of _strong
convictions, an intelligent citizen, a
member of the Presbyterian (lhurch
of Murray River, and n lover of the
good old modes and forms of wor-
ship so dear to his fathers. About
forty-one years ago he was united in
marriage to Miss Annie McLean of
Alliston. who survives him. He leaves
also four daughters and five sons to
cherish a fathei"s memory. The
daughters are: Mrs. Fldward Munn
nnd Mrs. .Iolin A. Mcllonald of Creek
River, und Mrs. Chun. McDonald and
Mrs. Nestor Black of Alliston. His
sons ure' John Angus, Peter`s Road;
Neil' Westville, Picton; Artemns, Pic-
tou Island; Malcolm and Chester, on
the hoinestead. The funeral took
place from his late home and was
largely nttendcd, and his mortal ro-
inains were laid to rest in Little
Siinds’ (Jeiiietery. l'-lervices at the
house were conducted by Rev. A.
