Xmas. The Germans are a hard na-
tion to beat but we hope and trust that

Since I landed here 1 have been on
pass, Louis and I went to London. Its
:some (lily. We were all through the
'famous Westminisier Abbey. lt is a
wonderful building and is noted for its
historic events. We then saw the
King's Palace and all the Grand
inonuments such as Lord -Nelsoifs
Wellington's and Queen Victoria.
They are beautiful. We all went to
St. Pauls (latlierlrnl the second largest
church in the world. lt is a line piece
oi' Art. in here where Nelson, Well-
ington and Lord Roberts are buried
the Dome alone is over 400 feet above
land level. We then visited the Brit-
ish Museum. I cannot begin to tell
you what we snw here. The most lm-
poriant l think was the Magna Cha-
ter which was signed by King John in
’12l5. also Sliahespeares \vork. \Ve
were only in a short while. It would
lake one n week to see all in it and
then only get a glimpse. We also saw
the Tower of London where -all the
l{ii1g‘s and Stotemen were behead-
ed in ancient tiiues. The Parliamnt
tlluildings too are magnificent both in
:splendor and size.
Many things camo to my memory
no l walked through those ancient
buildings.
We hope and trust that we will be
spared to conie back and then we will
be able to explain more fully our ex-
perience wlille in the Old Country.
We had a beautiful trip coming over
being very calm and mild.

order to celebrate Christmas the Ger-
mans have ordered Ghent to supply
one million cigars. one million cigar-
ettes snd ninety thousand pounds of
tobacco. They also have taken com-
plete control of every wine cellar in
town.
One proprietor was ordered to sup-
ply 800 bottles of brandy, but the order
taking his breath away, had not been
made. The soldiers answered yea. and
incr ased the demand to 1.800 bottles.
