BUSY TIME AHEAD AT ALL COLLIERIES SYDNEY, Dec. 3.-It certainly looks as if the output of the Domin- ion Coal ComDany’s Cape Breton conlfields will eclipse all previous re- cords by avery ample margin this year. _ The tonnage of Novembcr's ` _out- turn is stated to be 107,000 and the total for the eleven months Oi this year is some 4,373,000 tons. The output for the corresponding month of last year was 404,000 tons, and over the same period oi last year the total was stated to be 4,147,637 tons. The figures for this ` year’s working shows an increased output by 3,000 tons during the month gi November and some 225,- 215! tons over the eleven months. Ev- en this splendid increase would have been larger but for the fact that ar output of some 6,000 tons was lost over Friday and Saturday last, ow- ing to there being no craft available to take prompt delivery of the pro- d|ic_t. The ‘practising occupied little more than a week but a more complete and well executed pro- gramme could not have been desired. The opening and closing choruses were exceedingly well rendered, an; brought well-merited applause from the audience. A~solo by Mr. Thomas Renton received avigorous encore which sufficiently testified to tho mer- it of its execution. Miss_Edith‘ Ra- frese sand n solo Lu her usual H0011 f0I‘m. and was also encored. The audience was rather disappointed in be;-.ig deprived of an encore from Miss Sylvia Gordon, who considered justly, that one solo sufiiced to maintain her reputation. The hit of the evening was scored by Mr. Jas. P. Mclnnis, Charlottetown, the audi- ence refusing to bc satisfied until they had him appear for the tlrirs time when they desiatcd rather from sympathy for the singer than he- cause they were tired of listening to aim. A coon song and dialogue, by the "Georgetown Minstrels was heartily applauded, and a step-dance by the "unknowns" was also well re- ceived. A selection on the bagpipce oy Mr. _Duncan MacDc-laid appealed not only to the Guelic portion of the iudience if one were to ju-jgc by the inanimity of the uppinuse. A recita- tion was given by Miss Gwc-i Back, with her usual ability. A dialogue, :oked continuous laughter from the audit-.ice. Miss Lydia* Ross acting 'che part of the country cousin with 'rreut spirit, while Misses Freda Mor- rissey and Mamie O’Brien performed heir parts most creditabiy.
