It will be ready early in December. ses ° More Sueer Sutrements.—We learn from the Summerside Farmer that the heavy ship- ments of sheep still continue. On Monday Mr. John Henry sent to Bancroft & Sawyer, Lawrence, Mass, 416 sheep; on Tuesday Messrs. Drummond & Avard forwarded to St. John 400, and on Wednesday Mr. James Kane sent to the same market 450. On the the latter day there were aiso taken away by Mr, J. T. Prescott, of Troy, Maine, 100 ewes for breeding purposes. These were very fine specimens and shows that P. E. Island is not only famed for her horses, but is coming into note for her fine sheep as well. _-_--=>----—— THANKSGIVING Day.—The usual tea and great, which for the last few years has re- ularly taken place at the Poor House on rs ay, was held yesterday after- noon. The poor old people thoroughly enjoy- ed the good things provided by the kindness of many friends. After tea was over several of the ladies present sang songs and hymns, which much pleased them. About forty sat down to tea, the sick ones, ten in number, had cake and teataken to their rooms. Mrs. Allen (wife of Sergeant Allen, the Superin- tendent), thé kind, good matron who died last December, was much beloved by all who «knew her, She was present at the last Thanks- giving Tea ; and on this occasion was much niissed by all. Returns so far re- ceived show that Colonial Secretary Fenton and Surveyor-General Penny were defeated. A Rule Suspended. Orrawa, Nov. 7. An order was recently adopted calling attention to the act requiring seamen ship- ping with foreign vessels in Canadian ports to do so before the shipping master of the port. Representations subsequently made from Washington urged the repeal of the rule on the grounds that such seamen, by American rules, was bound to ship before the American Counsel, who exacted a_ fee, and that the Canadian rule would force sea- men to pay afee to the shipping master. In view of the apparent hardships and the fact that the American statute is similar to ours it is held in suspense. So far as Canadian vessels are concerned the Minister of Marine has recalled the recent order. en eat A Remarkable Run on the Gcean. New York, Nov. 6. The steamships City of New York and Teutonic finished the remarkable ecean race on record to-day. They left Queenstown at exactly the same time last Thursday, and this afternoon came into New York Harbor at full speed neck and neck. The decks of both vessels were crowded with passengers, who waved their handkerchiefs and cheered enthusiastically at each other. The owners «oi both vessels elaim a victory. The Parnell Commission Lonpon, Nov. 7. Before the Parnell Commission to-day, Sir Henry James resumed his speech on behalf of the Times. He read extracts from speeches made by Parnell, Davitt and others, in which the speakers advocated boycotting. As the greater portion of his face was covered with cancer, and the smell from his person was not at all suggestive of cleanly habits, he could not obtain lodgings, and later on in the evening applied at the Police Station for shelter. He told the Mar- shal that he was trying to get to Boston to have an operation performed, and that his visit to Charlottetown was to collect funds for that purpose.
